Excursions around Cucovny

The sandpit from 1972 was turned into a beautiful lake in the Kersko Nature Park after the mining was finished. The crystal clear water surrounded by sandy beaches and pine trees is an ideal place for swimming. In season, you can enjoy refreshments or a volleyball court.

The Baroque chapel with a cross-shaped plan will attract every lover of history and architecture. From Břítevská Hora you will enjoy an endless view of the countryside and you will also enjoy a stay in virtually untouched nature. And have you heard the local legend? The chapel is haunted.
Botanicus
Don't go into the garden without a penny. In the herb gardens you will find a tavern and workshops of traditional crafts. Make your own rope, soap or candle, weave a basket or forge a horseshoe. Enjoy a royal feast of local produce in the feast hall.
ZOO Chleby
The uninhabited rectory has changed beyond recognition over the years. Chleby may not be the biggest or the oldest zoo in our country, but it is definitely worth a visit! Visit both the old and new parts of the zoo, explore the Eco Centre or send your kids on a Zoo-holiday.
Mělník
By car or by bike. To get to Mělník, take the Elbe cycle path. Stop at the confluence of the Vltava and Elbe rivers, visit the local chateau, the Baroque town hall or the 13th century underground in Mělník. Wine lovers will enjoy the annual Mělník wine festival.
Bylandia
150 species of animals, including cute llamas and ponies, a chain carousel to make your head spin, a horse show every afternoon or a museum of historic vehicles and prepared animals. Enjoy a relaxing day at the largest family zoo in the country.
Kutná Hora
Kutná Hora is only 38 minutes by car from Cucovna and you will find yourself in a town whose urban conservation area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We highly recommend this trip.
Jezero Konětopy
Just 20 minutes from Cucovna is the lake of Konetop, which is a flooded sandpit with beautifully clear water. Interestingly, there are freshwater jellyfish and the former quarry offers great swimming and diving opportunities.
